The other day Chester had, in his words, “the best day ever!” and that’s all thanks to a Lamborghini showroom down the road making his dream come true. It’s 100% a day he’ll remember forever — he hasn’t stopped talking about it since.

If you know Chester, you’ll know he’s car mad. His two favourites are Lamborghini and Koenigsegg (especially the Jesko). But with Lambos, he just loves every single one. Doesn’t matter if it’s an old school one or the latest fastest model, he’s obsessed with them all. He’s even been building up a little collection — Hot Wheels, model cars, and remote control cars.
Now that Chester is in maintenance, we wanted to see if there was a museum or somewhere with loads of Lambos we could take him to. After searching around, we couldn’t find a Lamborghini museum in the UK, which was a bit disappointing. But then we remembered there was a Lamborghini dealership in Pangbourne, Reading, not too far away — about an hour’s drive. We didn’t want to just rock up and start wandering around, so we emailed them. To our surprise, they replied and said yes, Chester could come in for a look around. We were buzzing, but decided to keep it as a surprise for him.

On the day we told Chester we were going shopping. He had no clue. Luckily he was feeling decent that morning (some days he doesn’t want to do anything but lie on the sofa). When we pulled up and he saw the Lamborghini logo outside and his face just lit up. He couldn’t believe it! We told him we could look at the cars outside and he was already bouncing — then when we said we were actually going inside too, he was over the moon.

Straight away he was flapping with excitement seeing all the Lamborghinis. A lovely lady on reception was waiting for us, and then we met Craig, the manager of the showroom who we’d been emailing. He was brilliant with Chester — chatting away and telling him about the cars. Then he asked Chester if he wanted to sit in one. Me and Christian honestly couldn’t believe it — we thought he’d just get to see them, not actually sit in one. And then came the next shock: he asked if Chester wanted to start one up. Chester’s face said it all.
So Chester climbed into the demo Lambo — a Lamborghini Huracán Sterrato, which is their rally-inspired model — started it up, and was grinning from ear to ear. Craig gave it a little rev with his hand to show Chester the sound, which he loved — then Chester, knowing exactly where the pedals were, pressed them with his foot to copy him and gave it a rev! Craig burst out laughing and quickly switched it off, joking, “I didn’t know a 6-year-old would already know where the pedals are!” It was such a funny moment, and Chester thought it was brilliant.

But it didn’t stop there — the manager Craig then asked if Chester fancied going for a drive. Either the two-seater or the five-seater. Of course, Chester being Chester, he went straight for the fast two-seater! Off they went, and we met them around the corner at the workshop where they service the cars — which had even more of them parked up. Chester was buzzing when he spotted some in his favourite colours, green and orange — the proper classics he loves.

Chester was in heaven. Cars everywhere, meeting the mechanics, and still excited about his drive. When it was time to go back, he got the choice of walking with us or jumping back in the Lambo. No shock, he jumped straight back in for another ride.

Back at the dealership we got loads of pics of him with the cars, sitting in them and standing next to them. They then showed him a video, chatted about the history of the cars, and even let Chester chip in with stuff he already knew. Then to top it all off, Chester got given some amazing goodies. Totally unexpected and honestly so kind.

We can’t thank the team at Lamborghini Pangbourne enough for doing this for him. After everything Chester’s been through, seeing him smile like that was priceless. He hasn’t stopped talking about it since — it was a proper dream come true. We’d asked him before what’s something he’d really love to do or where he’d love to go, and his answer was always the same: “go in a Lamborghini.” To see that actually happen for him was just incredible. He was so worn out from the excitement that he lasted about five minutes in the car on the way home before he was flat out asleep.
